SISTERHOOD
MISSION STATEMENT
For over a century, American Jewish women have banded together to form Sisterhoods. They have labored in various fields, serving as a vehicle for the expansion of the American Synagogue into new areas of activity. Sisterhoods have provided innumerable services to their own congregations, raised much needed funds, fostered congregational unity, and sponsored educational programs for adult women and men. At DOS Sisterhood, our purpose is to strengthen and unite the women of the synagogue and support them in efforts to understand and perpetuate modern Orthodox Judaism in the home, synagogue, and the community. We reinforce our bonds with Israel and with other Jews worldwide.
When you join our Sisterhood you join a spirited group of women and become a part of something bigger than yourself. Once you become a member, you can be as involved as you wish; you are invited to our exciting, educational and spiritual programs, or you may want to join others in planning our activities and eventually desire to become a member of our board.
Benefits of joining DOS Sisterhood include fellowship with wonderful welcoming congregants as well as numerous opportunities to interact with other Jewish women, participation in projects that benefit both our synagogue and the Jewish community at large. Our past, current and future programs include exciting and informative events; book and movie club, breast cancer awareness fundraising events, fun card club, gorgeous fashion shows, Chanukah party with Jewish singing and dancing, Purim schpeil with catered dinner, Shavuot luncheon, new members opening Meeting with entertainment, educational speakers, boat rides, museums, movies, and the list continues.
