Rabbi Zevi Saunders

Rabbi Zevi Saunders is a dynamic young Rabbi who brings his varied past experiences to South Florida in many unique areas. Hailing from Manchester, England, Rabbi Saunders received semicha, rabbinical ordination, from a yeshiva in Gateshead and from the Bdatz Iggud Rabbonim, (BIR) one of the largest kosher certification agencies in Europe. Additionally, the Rabbi obtained a Masters Degree in Talmudic Law. The Rabbi’s rabbinical experiences include serving as the Rabbi of a nursing home in Manchester, as a pulpit Rabbi of a shul near Liverpool and subsequently at a Young Israel synagogue in Bensonhurst, NY, as well as Director of the Jewish Program at the Ben Gamla School’s After Care Program in Plantation.

Rabbi Saunders is currently the Rabbinical Coordinator of KM, Kosher Miami, one of the major kashruth certification agencies in
South Florida. Rabbi Saunders also has experience as an actor, a reality TV star in England. Perfect! A Rabbi that can entertain during services. And yes, he does. While Rabbi Saunders is gentle, soft-spoken, and humble, he is also dynamic.

His animations and gesticulations are indeed enthralling and keeps one’s attention, but it is his exuberance when davening, reciting the prayers, that one realizes that the Rabbi really is having a personal conversation with G-d. Rabbi Saunders says that his method of praying is to inspire himself and hopefully it will inspire others. Mission accomplished -- others can feel it and feed off of it. From the non-observant to the halachically strict, Rabbi Saunders is “Everyman’s Rabbi.” Clarification: Every person’s Rabbi. Rabbi Saunders has an innate sense of equality and his respect not just for women, but for every Jew is paramount in his words and actions. Rabbi Saunders wants Delray Orthodox Synagogue (DOS) to be the pride and beacon for the Jewish communities in South Florida.
